Important Notice regarding Invitations for Students to join the NHS for 2023 - 2024 School Year
A reminder that all Amphi High Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors may apply to join our chapter of the National Honor Society, regardless of receiving an invitation. We also follow the recommendation of the NHS to send out invitations to apply to all 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students whose weighted GPA meets our member requirements. This year, our active integration into the Infinite Campus student information system is making it necessary to delay running reports that identify qualifying students. While we normally provide the invitations to join the same day the application cycle opens, it has been determined to be in the students' best interest to wait a bit longer before sending out these invites.
Frequently Asked Questions about Joining
the Amphi High Chapter of the NHS
When can I apply to join the National Honor Society?
Our Induction Cycle (Application Window) typically begins during the month of August through the beginning of September.
Our chapter strives to follow the expectation of the National Honor Society to actively and broadly advertise when we begin accepting applications and our deadline to submit applications. As well, we make all application requirements and deadlines to apply as transparent as possible to make our process fair for all students at Amphi High. As recommended by the National Honor Society, we post our "Timeline for the Induction Process" at least a week before we open the induction cycle. Our most recent "Timeline for the Induction Process" (in yellow) is posted above the F.A.Q section of this webpage. We typically hold this cycle open for three weeks, and never make the cycle shorter than ten school days long.
Per the standard National Honor Society procedures, the Amphi High Chapter only holds one Induction Cycle per school year, and only one Induction Ceremony per school year.

Can I submit a paper application instead of filling one out online?
Yes, while we prefer to go "Paper-Lite" by completing as much club business digitally, it is not a problem to provide any AHS student with a paper copy of the application. Click on the icon below to download and print the application, or see Mr. Harper in room 104 or Ms. Griffith in room 702 for a copy.

I just transferred and enrolled at Amphi from another school. I was an active member of my other school's NHS. Do I need to reapply?
No, re-applying is not required. Students who were active in a chapter of the NHS at other schools are welcome to join our chapter. Please see Mr. Harper in room 104 or Ms. Griffith in room 702 for details.
I did not receive an invitation to join the NHS. Will I be rejected (not selected) if I do apply?
Our faculty advisory council will not make any guarantees if a student is eligible to join the National Honor Society until we review the GPA as printed on a student's transcript, as well as check to see if a student has severe or repeated behavior and discipline infractions. Occasionally, some students who do qualify might not be listed on our reports of students with qualifying weighted GPAs. A common occurrence of this discrepancy includes transfer students whose full transcripts might not be available to the faculty advisory council when running these GPA reports.
If you believe that your weighted GPA is at least 3.0 or higher, and you have not had any severe or repeated discipline referrals, we encourage you to apply.
If you are unsure, we encourage you to make an appointment with your counselor to review your GPA and progress towards graduating from high school.
